ISP Tuition Refund Policy
All tuition refund requests must be submitted in writing to international@gscs.ca
Cancellation:
- Students must give Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools a written notice of cancelling program, by choice, prior to their start date (September 1 and February 1) - there will be a $2000 administrative fee.
- A tuition refund will be given of one half of tuition fees if the student withdraws, by choice, within 30 calendar days of the beginning date of the school program.
- No refund of fees will be given if a student withdraws, by choice, after 30 days from the beginning date of their program (October 1st for a September start and March 1st for a February start).
- Before the program begins, and a visa/study permit has/have been denied, a full refund of tuition fees will be given, minus a $500 administrative fee.
Dismissal:
- No refund of fees will be given if a student is dismissed from the International Student Program for the given semester.
- Students who seriously violate the policies of the school or the law will be returned home at his/her expense.
Status Change (Permanent Residence/Study Permit/Work Permit/Refugee):
- Students who become a Permanent Resident or Refugee or Parent’s receive a Work Permit or a full time Study Permit (Not Language Program) before September 30, will receive a full refund, less an administrative fee of $3000.
- There will be no refund if a status change occurs after September 30.
**Agent commission for first full year of tuition will be subtracted from any eligible refund, if applicable.
ISP Homestay Refund Policy
All homestay refund requests must be submitted in writing to homestay@gscs.ca
Non-refundable Fees:
In the event of study permit refusal or cancelation, both before and after arrival, the following fees will not be refunded:
- Homestay placement fee ($500 for new applicants; $250 for returning students)
- Health insurance fees (once coverage has begun)
- Any required deposits
*Please note that homestay refunds will be calculated for full months only – partial months will not be refunded.
Reasons for Refund Request:
- If a study permit has been refused, the refusal letter must be submitted along with the written request for the refund to be processed. A full refund of homestay fees will be processed, minus any non-refundable fees, as listed above.
- In the event of cancellation before arrival for any other reason, homestay fees already paid (outside of any non-refundable fees) will be refunded minus one month of homestay fees, which are retained in lieu of notice and to compensate the host family for lost placement opportunity.
- In the event of cancellation after the school term has started, a partial refund will be processed. Homestay fees will be refunded on a prorated monthly basis. Two full months of homestay fees will be retained in lieu of notice, regardless of the reason for withdrawal. This notice period is required to ensure fairness to host families who have committed to providing care and accommodation.
- There will be no refund for any student who is dismissed from the program for seriously violating the policies of the school or the law.
- At the discretion of the Director of the International Student program with Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools, a prorated homestay refund may be considered in exceptional cases including:
- Serious death or illness of an immediate family member
- Serious illness requiring the student to return home
- Non-renewal or revocation of a study permit during the program
**Supporting documentation is required for all requests under this section.
